The 2010 Minority Health Initiative Annual Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, 350 West Maryland Street, Indianapolis, IN 462625.

Keynote Speaker

Tonya Lewis-Lee
Having a history of involvement with children issues, Tonya Lewis- Lee became very determined to raise awareness of behavior taken for granted in securing a safeguard for healthy babies outcome. Infant Mortality is defined as the death of an infant the first year of life. Some risk factors are disproportionately found in racial minority/ethnic communities. Late prenatal care, poor nutrition, and obesity are potential dangers. On September, 9th 2009, Lee was in Washington, D.C. to premiere the documentary Crisis in the Crib, that highlights Lee along with physicians, researchers and college students. Being moved to get the word out, Tonya partnered with The Office of Minority Health in the department of Health and Human services. Lee used her celebrity to educate mothers for thriving, healthy babies. Tonya Lewis- Lee is indeed on a mission to help reverse the sadness of Infant Mortality.
